In brief

4BC has helped Gate 21 and five municipalities strengthen the action layer in GreenInsight. Through interviews, workshops, and individual consulting, organizational barriers were identified and next steps were concretized. The experiences have been compiled into a Best Practice Guide for data-driven energy management.

In GreenInsight, 4BC helped Gate 21 make AI-driven energy insights applicable in the municipalities' daily operations. Through interviews, joint workshops, and individual consulting, we worked on barriers, responsibilities, and realistic next steps in five municipalities. The focus was on political and management anchoring, organization, and prioritization of time, competencies, and finances. The process provided the municipalities with a basis for their own action plans and resulted in the Best Practice guide "From Data to Action" with a three-level maturity model. GreenInsight is supported by the Danish Agency for Digitisation.

AI Insights Needed to Be Translated into Operational Action

The municipalities had varying prerequisites for translating energy data and AI analyses into action. Unclear roles, limited time, and insufficient management anchoring made energy work vulnerable and person-dependent. The task was to clarify the barriers and create a realistic basis for prioritization, collaboration, and follow-up.

Results

Barriers and Next Steps Clarified

Interviews and individual consulting concretized the municipalities' challenges and provided a basis for further work on their own action plans.

Recommendations for Operations and Management

The process gathered recommendations on responsibility, collaboration, and resource prioritization that can support lasting anchoring of energy work.

Joint Best Practice Guide

Experiences from five municipalities were translated into practical recommendations in "From Data to Action," which can also be used by other municipalities.
