Innovation: NEM - Next-gen Energy Management – EUDP - The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program

Customer: EUDP - The Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program

In brief

We are participating in a large EUDP-supported development project where AI-based data analysis will help building owners optimize large portfolios without having to install additional measuring equipment. By combining public data and simulations, energy consumption can be reduced. The solution automates the prioritization process, reduces CO2 emissions, and creates a solid basis for decisions for future investments.

In the EUDP-supported project Next-gen Energy Management (NEM), 4BC is developing an innovative AI solution for large building portfolios. The challenge is often a lack of data and resources for manual analysis. By combining public data with simulations, we enable energy management and ISO 50001 documentation of data analysis completely without expensive, unnecessary hardware investments. The result is a 100% portfolio overview that automatically prioritizes the most effective measures. The solution is expected to reduce energy consumption by 5–15% and significantly lower CO2 emissions. This creates a solid, factual basis for decisions, making it easy for building owners to accelerate the green transition and optimize operating economics across many square meters.

Lack of Portfolio Overview and Expensive Measuring Equipment Hinder Effective Green Transition.

Large building owners often lack an overview of their energy consumption across their portfolio. Without detailed data and resources for manual analysis, it is difficult to prioritize efforts. At the same time, high costs for new measuring equipment hinder the green transition and the possibility of achieving systematic energy management and ISO certification.

Results

Significant Reduction in Energy Consumption

The implementation aims to ensure a reduction in energy consumption of 5–15%, which significantly improves the property portfolio's overall CO2 footprint and operating economics.

Data-Driven Decision Basis Without Hardware

The customer is expected to achieve a full portfolio overview and prioritized action plans through AI analysis of existing data completely without the need for new measuring equipment.

Automated Benchmarking and Documentation

The solution automates the identification of savings potential and supports ISO 50001 by providing precise documentation for energy management and EnPI follow-up.
